They Cant Take that Away from Me
Room 105 SCAD HK,
292 Tai Po Road, Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong
4 May 2017     8:00 -10:00 pm

They Can’t Take That Away From Me is a curated space with three interlinking installations engaged through the perspectives of being mother and of being child. It is a translation of very personal memories through the thematic of a mother-daughter relationship as told by three different individuals. The dialogue of motherhood is explored by Inga Nelli’s On The Far Side of The Sound (Tachycardia). While Reflections of You by Rebe Wong, and Mother of My Eyes by Nicole Ching narrate the meaning of identity as daughters.

This space is an analytical introspection into maternal intimacy as it reveals the diversity of parallels between the parent and child. As a contextualised /space/, the works capture moments of mother and daughter entwined as the same identity, the distancing of self from mother, and how their embodied characters affect and impact the life of each other.
